Helpful Hints

Here are some questions you can ask yourself before coming to our store....

Q: Why doesn't my vacuum cleaner pick up like it used to?
A:The belt may be stretched or broken.A simple and inexpensive belt replacement will fix that. The belt on your vacuum cleaner should be replaced each year to keep it working properly (except geared belts which typically last 5-7 years). It could also be that your vacuum is clogged. You can check the hoses from the bottom of vacuum to bag/dirt cup and remove any blockages. And finally it could be that the brush strips on roller brush are worn down. In this case you'd need to replace the roller brush.

Q: What's the best vacuum on the market today?
A:We get asked this question often. Unfortunately, there's no simple answer. We do have some definite opinions about which vacuums are least repair-prone, longest lasting, best cleaning, lightest, etc. Feel free to call or stop by to discuss the vacuum that best fits your particular needs.

Q: Why is there a burning smell coming from my vacuum cleaner?

A:The belt could be stretched. A simple and inexpensive belt replacement could fix that. It could also be that the motor is sparking. In this case you need to bring it in so we can look at it.

Q: Why does my vacuum cleaner shut off by itself?
A: Your vacuum could be clogged. You can check the hoses and remove any blockages. It might also be that your bag or dirt cup is full. Simply replace bag, empty dirt cup or change/clean the filters.

Q : Why does my vacuum cleaner smell funny?
A: You may have vacuumed up dog/cat urine or kitty litter. You should not use your vacuum to do this.Perhaps there is a dead chipmunk stuck in your vacuum. To fix this, throw the vacuum away. Don't bring it in!!
